Prophet Discord Bot

A Discord chatting bot that learns from users in the server. Using markov chains, it can generate text based on the messages in the server. Prophet is a fun bot that can be used for entertainment purposes and might be unhinged, making it more fun.

This bot is not being maintained anymore. You can still use it, but it may not work as expected.

About

Prophet Discord Bot is a Discord bot that uses Markov chains as an algorithm for text generation. It randomly collects messages from the defined channel and tries to build sentences based on probabilities.

Sometimes these randomly generated texts are nonsense, but they can also be funny and related to the current context.

Configuration

After you add the bot to your server, you must set it up to make it work.

Note: the commands may be translated depending on your language.

Type the command /config channel to define the channel that the bot will interact with.
Now, type the command /config enable to enable its activity in the server.
Check if everything is ok with the command /info.
Fun!

As the chat interacts, the bot will collect the messages based on the defined message collection chance. After 5 collected messages, it starts sending messages.

Privacy

Privacy is always important for any user. To be clear, the bot ONLY collects the messages if the service is enabled.

You can delete all the stored messages using the command /deletetexts [member] (where member is an optional parameter).

To prevent it from collecting your messages, you can use the command /tracking, which toggles whether you allow or not the collection of your messages. By default, it's allowed by the server administrators when the bot is added to the guild.

What data does Prophet Discord Bot collect?

To make our service work as intended, Prophet Discord Bot collects the following data provided by the Discord API:

Message ID
Channel ID
Guild ID
User ID
Message content

How does Prophet Discord Bot use your data?

We use the message id to keep content up to date, editing and deleting messages from the database. We need the channel and guild identification to define where our service should work. We also use the guild identification (unique id, guild name, guild owner, and guild member count) for logging purposes. This allows us to make the service more secure and stable.

The message data (text and author id) is used in the text generation algorithm when the service is enabled. All the message content is encrypted and stored in a secure database with restricted access. These data are only collected if the service is enabled.

When the bot is added to your guild, it assumes it's allowed to collect and use the data. If you don't want to allow it to collect your message data or want to delete your stored messages from the current guild, see the text above to avoid this
